SOCRATES GRUNDTVIG 2006
The increasing impact of science, the growing complexity of society and of the systems that people live in, the rising number of more highly educated people, etc. - various aspects add to the development that information which concerns people in daily life is presented in the media by means of (often sophisticated) statistical representation, and refers directly to empirical results.
This representation is quite often not correct, or a correct use of data is misunderstood by its recipients. This can lead to faulty conclusions, attitudes or emotional reactions. MaStER develops a course which qualifies citizens of modern society (especially in their roles as patients of health care systems and as consumers) to correctly and critically understand such information and, vice versa, it qualifies journalists to present such information correctly. The course will be offered both in a blended version and as e-learning.
